This is a fantastic two-day, one-night tour that provides the pleasure of getting to know the magnificent Colca Canyon and the most important nearby tourist destinations. As we leave the white city of Arequipa, we will see the city’s tutelary volcanoes: Chachani, Misti and Pichu Pichu. We will continue on to see part of the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, where we can see groups of vicuñas as well as a wide variety of plants, complemented by spectacular views when we stop at the Patapampa lookout point. Then we will arrive at Chivay, where we will spend the night. We will leave early the next day to see the flight of the condors over the deep Colca Canyon. Then we will continue our journey, visiting picturesque villages along the way back that harmoniously combine culture, architecture and valley landscapes on this unforgettable tour.
We leave Arequipa for Colca Canyon, with pickup from the hotels at 6:30 a.m. We’ll continue until we reach Pampa Cañahuas at 4,000 and 4,500 meters above sea level. This area is the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca. Continuing our tour, we will pass by Patahuasi, Alto Sumbay, Vizcachani, Toccra, Chucura and Patapampa where we can see the Mirador de los Andes at 4,800 meters above sea level. We’ll enjoy a box lunch on the way. Then we will arrive at the town of Chivay, where we will settle into our hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll leave at 6:30 a.m. to go to Cruz del Condor. We’ll take in views of the canyon and the majestic flight of the condors. While returning to Chivay, we’ll pass by the villages of Pinchollo Maca and Achoma Yanque, and stop at the Antahuilque lookouts to observe the agricultural terraces and at Choquetico, where the hanging tombs and stone models are found. We’ll arrive at Chivay for lunch and return to the city of Arequipa at 4:30 p.m.
